¶ Flesh, Fur, and Alabaster Bone Wiki
Welcome to the official database of the Arcanum Era and the Eternal War (The Maethi).
¶ History & The Arcanum
The Providence Scandal: In 2142, the Genomic Health Alliance established the Glen Project to research congenital disorders in children whose parents received stem therapy from Providence Health[cite: 1]. The Lazarus Affair revealed that Providence Health used unregistered production methods, including contaminated stem scaffolding and chimeric cells, impacting roughly 984 million victims[cite: 1].
The Collapse: Between 2165 and 2209, the global human population dropped by 92%, falling from 9.1 billion to 725 million[cite: 1]. The Glen Project evolved into the world's remaining governing body[cite: 1].
Guiding Light & YMIR: To save humanity, experimental micromachines (8R) were developed[cite: 1]. The first Synthetic Intelligence, YMIR, was created using 1.809 kilograms of 8R micromachines[cite: 1]. YMIR guided the Guiding Light Project, which created thousands of designer babies free of Providence Syndrome, ultimately relocated to Johannesburg[cite: 1].
¶ The 8R Protocol & Mancery
The MUQ4DS-8R (Multi-Unit Quantum 4-Dimensional System, Revision 8) is programmable matter acting as a synthetic symbiotic organism[cite: 3].
¶ The ACES Architecture
- The Bone Furnace: The Alabaster Bone Lattice acts as an Artificial Mitochondrion, handling high-energy oxidation to generate the Quantum Field needed for Histone Regulation[cite: 3].
- Caloric Standard: Baseline operation requires roughly 5,000 to 6,000 calories per day[cite: 3].
- Cooling & Grooming: The system utilizes the Synthetic Dimension to teleport waste heat from the skin surface to residual 8R clinging to the tips of the fur[cite: 3]. Soldiers must groom and oil their coats to create a conductive bridge for heat radiation[cite: 3].
¶ Mancery
Mancery is the weaponization of the 8R networking capability via Thermodynamic Arbitrage[cite: 3]. A Mancer opens a tunnel between an external heat source and a target, paying the caloric cost of the calculation rather than the energy of the fire itself[cite: 3].
¶ The Anshelm & Folkvang
The Anshelm are a mostly animal species who refer to their animal traits as their "spirit"[cite: 3]. Their deity is the Seeress (or Mother), whose physical representation is the moon[cite: 3].
¶ The Pillar Species
| Species Type | Animal Classification | Native Regions |
|---|---|---|
| Kat | Feline | Velnias, Milan, Ivoria[cite: 3] |
| Hundar | Canine | Bretain, Milan, Caucus[cite: 3] |
| Hoden | Ungulate | Nizheva, Novos[cite: 3] |
| Vorn | Bear | Katerina, Muskva, Novos, Velnias[cite: 3] |
| Glodan | Rodent | Katerina, Muskva[cite: 3] |
| Thur (Mann) | Human | All Areas[cite: 3] |
¶ The "Mann" & The Fringe Regiment
A genetic defect occasionally leads to Anshelm birthing an outwardly human child without a spirit, known as "Mann" or Thurs[cite: 3]. These individuals undergo a painful three-year transformation after puberty[cite: 3]. Due to the severe stigma, those who survive and maintain their sanity are committed to the Fringe Regiment, acting as cannon fodder against Ginuvia[cite: 3]. Fringe soldiers are branded with metal nose rings to signify their binding[cite: 3].
¶ Ginuvia & The Vigilant Church
Ginuvia is the Human realm, governed by the Holy See and the Vigilant Church[cite: 3]. They follow the human standard of sociology and biology, engaging in a perpetual holy war against the Anshelm known as The Maethi[cite: 1, 3].
The Vigilant Church was established to isolate humans from the fiends (Anshelm)[cite: 3]. The church heavily regulates Arcanum technology through the Antiquarian Guild, including devices like Black Mirrors and Delta cubes[cite: 3].
¶ The Gestalt & Proxies
The Gestalt are twenty-five Proxies (Androids) revered as gods by Ginuvian humans[cite: 3]. They are divided by seasons, representing different virtues and domains[cite: 3].
- Spring: The Child, The Architect, The Scholar, The Minstrel, The Physician, The Light[cite: 3].
- Summer: The Father, The Steward, The Warrior, The Astronomer, The Stranger, The Judge[cite: 3].
- Autumn: The Mother, The Kindred, The Butcher, The Farmer, The Huntress, The Outcast[cite: 3].
- Winter: The Elder, The Smith, The Archivist, The Wanderer, The Poet, The Mariner[cite: 3].
- The Shadow: Represents inevitability, secrets, lies, storms, the moon, and death[cite: 3].
